Building Updates in Progress
Anyone who has been around the club during the last 57 years knows there have been VERY few changes to the inside of the clubhouse over the years. We found a photo dated 1960-sorry I didn't put a copy of it in this e-mail. A Wildlife Mural has now been installed on one wall with a custom valance & lighting, new light fixtures hung above the bar, the bar front has been dressed up with shotgun silhouettes, a foot rail and purse hooks. The walls have been painted, a tree decal has been installed on one wall, and wainscoting with barn board paneling is currently being installed. Life member Ron Bond of Ron's Taxidermy in Union, MI has given the club multiple mounts and his handiwork & generosity is greatly appreciated! By the way, Ron, the winning name drawn for the turtle was Big Ed! We would LOVE to get the wainscoting completed before Septemberfest. Most of the work has been done either on Friday nights or occurred on July 3rd. Thank-you to Scott Butrick and Don Henley, Jr. who have been heading up this project!! Thanks to all of those who have helped out so far. Please contact Don Henley, Jr (269) 357-3522 if you can help us out on Monday September 4th beginning at 9 a.m. (or some other date & time). There are all kinds of ways for you to help. Tasks include measuring, cutting & routing trim. Staining trim. Framing, installing paneling & shelves, moving furniture in order to access work area, sweeping up sawdust, cleaning up and re-arranging furniture. We can even use someone to grill something for lunch and everyone bring a side on the 4th! We will also be installing slate around the electric fireplace and new granite bar tops in the near future thanks to some generous donors. It's going to look great when it is all done. It's much brighter and airy already, and the mural and the tree decal just give it some "Pop"!
